Antique Vehicle Registration in Florida
Obtaining an Antique Plate
In Florida, antique vehicles are exempt from the requirement to display a current registration sticker. However, to obtain an antique plate, you must submit an application to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). The application requires the following information:
- Proof of ownership (certificate of title)
- Proof of insurance
- A $15 application fee
Registering an Out-of-State Antique Vehicle
If you are moving to Florida from another state with an antique vehicle, you must complete an application for certificate of title. You will also need to provide proof of identity, a Florida insurance policy, and the original out-of-state title.
Vehicles with Liens
If your antique vehicle has a lien, you will need to prepare a packet with the following documentation:
- Proof of identity
- Florida insurance
- Original out-of-state title
- Lienholder's information (name, address, phone number)
Once you have gathered all of the necessary documentation, you can submit it to your local FLHSMV office. The office will process your application and issue you an antique plate.
